2002 D22 Petrol Engine rattle at idle and a bit rough. Can it be anything other than timing chain?

It has 450,000 Km on the clock. If it is timing chain is it worth changing timing chain at this age?

Yes. Should be aware every 100k's that they might need changing. Can also get a rattle from similar area if a bolt has dropped from the alternator housing. (done that on mine and feared the worst.)

I'm heading out to check that alternator bolt right now.
It's the old girls only hope as, at 450,000 Km on the clock, it seems not sensible to go after just a timing chain change without reconditioning the whole engine, even though it performs well.
