Must be a factory design issue with the nut misaligned slightly... mine also has 3 of the 4 bolted up smoothly without dramas, but the front passenger side one is threaded. Gonna have to get a heli coil onto it. Red Dog, I'd be keen to know which hole you fed another nut through to put on top...

I went with the Brown Davis bash plates for my 2012 ST (negotiated a discount for the 3 of them inc free fitting at their Bayswater head office). When discussing with the owner there, he did say that the plates fit both the 550's and ST's as they have dual mounting holes and oil drain locations...
