Has anyone had coolant in the oil from an oil cooler

From memory, the oil and coolant are separated by the central bolt in the big silver cooler assembly, A couple orings to replace (or gasket compound) and she should be good to go assuming its not cracked However no idea how much coolant you would lose taking that off, it is low on the engine

Nissan yd25 won’t turn more than half way

Had my block shaved, not at all sure how much, and with a replacement head due cracked and the thickest head gasket i was good, the machine shop also mentioned that they only generally supplied the thickest possible head gasket, they pointed out that the difference in compression would really be...

    D40 Gearbox Mount nut rounded.

Try a 6 point socket, And as you are replaceing the mount you can try to impact gun it tight, that MAY break the stud from the mount, allowing it to fall out, ( trust me this wont hurt the transmission) This is why i had to replace my mount after the transmission place replaced my clutch...

    No boost/ limp mode

I think the green plug down on the right hand side of the engine, near scv is for the solenoid for vacuum controlled cruise control, but dont quote me, been a while since i looked it up, my car had the same unused plug and i only found reference to that when looking through the manuals for...

    STALLING

Had to cut the steel bands that held the original check valves so i could put thw nissan ones in, used a couple of tywraps and it was sweet The only real problem was that both ends on the marine replacement where straight, one end on the nissan original is a 90 degree elbow, the check valves...

    Glow plugs

When i tore my engine down at 365k the glow plugs where fine, They arent installed with a high torque, 15 foot pound, but if they have been in a long time, they can be problematic so use a decent 6 point deep socket to get them out

    Interesting.

I am not convinced that the yd25 is stressed out at 140 kw, i have a 2007 d40rx ( think its the 126kw version... dunno) and after 365000k the crankshaft snapped, this wasnt due to a fault with the strength of the engine, it was due to 1 bolt on the #4 bearing cap not engaged in the threads and...

D40 fuel primer not pumping - what worked for me

Hehe, good job, I haf a similar problem when i put my engine back in, except my bulb was split and this was easy to find cause it also leaked fuel, 10 bucks at repco btw, changed the check valves over to what was on my split bulb and goof as new, the marine one from repco is slightly larger...

Blown up engine 2014 d40 thai built

You know we are all saying basic common sense things, if the oil is thick and 'tarry' with like golden syrup then, yeah it can be a problem, but as mentioned a deisel, any deisel runs black oil, my navs oil was black after 500km on a fresh rebuild, with all the old black oil cleaned out. A good...

Blown up engine 2014 d40 thai built

Does it actually run though after an oil change?? Is there bad knocking?? Blowing smoke?? Pass a compression test?? A new turbo is cheaper than the engine, dpf and manifold are not terribly complicated to change....... remember auto wreckers can be your friends........ Putting it into...

    Tensioner gasket

There is definetly not one in the service manual i have for pre 2010 spainish i suspect it is added by nissan later on or yd25 as a failsafe to prevent oil leaking out of the tensioner When i tore my engine down after the crank snapped there was one in there, it went back in, figured it...

[SOLVED] Yet another power loss and black smoke question (updated)

Hehe yep, the growth needs to go somewhere, you must have had a bad growth problem for it to completely block the filter We use an antibacterial treatment in our aircraft at work, if we use the ' shock treatment' we HAVE to change filters in so many flight hours,
