inter cooler pipes, catch can installation

I've recently done that work. Most hot pipes I've seen being sold only have a solid pipe between the turbo and the bend at the front, where it goes around the corner to the intercooler. The set I have is an aluminium pipe, in two sections, from the turbo to the intercooler, except for three...

D40 Radiator, how hard is it to find one that fits???

Do you also have a Thai build, Tony? If so, did the mirror connector plug straight in? On mine, using knock-off towing mirrors, some of the wires had to be re-arranged for the mirrors to work correctly. Also, as mine is an RX, there were no connections in the door to hook up the mirror's indicators.

fitting original filler nozzle between cab and tray on np300

I don't want to discourage you but I see a couple of potential problems. It doesn't look like you've anchored it anywhere, other than by the hoses. I'd expect that will likely cause cracking or splitting of one or both hoses eventually. Either your tray is rigidly attached, which is a really...

    What Turbo to buy

I've just replaced mine in the last couple of days. I'll say at the start that it was an absolute pig of a job. Trying to get to, and later replace, the heat shield bolts was definitely the hardest part. If it hadn't been over the Easter period I would have preferred to pay the mechanic to do...

    Where to mount a pre-filter?

I've purchased a Fuel Manager universal pre-filter kit and am now searching for a suitable place to mount it. I know there are model-specific kits for the Navara but they all seem to be for the manuals only and I have an auto. I've been googling for information on the subject, preferably with...

No problem. I haven't consumed alcohol since I got gout.

Thanks. In the highly unlikely event I get a passport and start travelling overseas, I'll keep that in mind. :)

Where to buy a good axe?

The only press I have is a manual pump action hydraulic, so no good for smithing. For shorter trips, I would normally take the chainsaw, where a full tank is enough till we get back. This time we're planning an extended trip and I don't want to carry extra petrol. The bowsaw will cut a lot but...

Where to buy a good axe?

Ah yes, I do love hand-crafted tools. There's a bloke at the local blacksmithing group who makes some of the best edged tools I've ever seen. Beautiful to look at and totally functional, with tool-steel edges. The only reason I don't get one of those is the price, which I simply can't justify...

Quite right, and the same in all states. I was simply pointing out that the reason behind that 45 degree requirement is due to the extensive use of overhead speed cameras. I hadn't intended to imply that the height was a factor in itself.

Where to buy a good axe?

Thanks for that and I'll have a look there if I can't find one in a physical store. An axe is the kind of thing I like to feel in my hands before buying them. I've been very disappointed in the past with hammers I've bought online, even when they were a well known and reputable make and model.

    Number plate Lightbar

Our numerous fixed ones tend to be in various overhead structures, such as overpasses on the freeways/tollways, etc. It's to make sure those ones collect enough revenue that we have the laws concerning number plates. The mobile ones are generally on a car parked on the side of the road (pretty...

Where to buy a good axe?

Thanks, I don't recall seeing the Fiskars brand in the nearby Bunnings branches but I'll check them out again.

Perhaps they don't use overhead speed cameras to the extent we have them in Australia.

Where to buy a good axe?

Who can tell me where to buy a good axe in Vic, preferably with either a hickory, spotted gum or fibreglass handle? I don't expect anything like a racing axe but I am after one that can be sharpened to an effective edge that will actually cut wood and keep that edge for more than a chop or two...

MOT sounds like you're in the UK, where things will obviously be different. I was referring to Australian states.

Wheel spacers and spring spacers at least. Wheel spacers are banned because they upset the car's geometry and add stresses that the manufacturer never designed for. Spring spacers are a big non-no, although you can use rear lifting blocks and spacers above the front shocker/spring assembly...

In most Australian states, if not all of them, that vehicle would be illegal for multiple reasons. Obviously, they're not as restrictive in the UK.

I believe the states intend to come to an agreement on this and in Vic they're talking about changing the legislation to allow speed camera operators to issue tickets if their system detects that it doesn't have the required visibility to the plate. I don't know they intend to identify who it is...

D40 Dual Cab Under Back Seat Storage

I would assume the rear seat is the same as what's in my RX. The seat hob lifts up from the front, although I needed to use a flat (such as you might use to pulling nails, etc.) and had to lever pretty hard. There are three clips, one near each end and another in the middle and you'll want to...
