Hi all.
Is there a section with pinned topics / how to guides?
I am in the process of potentially replacing timing chain (single on the bottom, so not converted, potentially original at 250kkm or was replaced at some point - I do not know the history). Very slacky on return side but stiff between the top sockets and under 0.5mm gap between the links, so half of checks says it is stretched, half says it is not).

Anyways - I read one thread about a guy cooking his engine and wrapping head after not bleeding cooling sys properly. I had to remove EGR to get to the timing, so I will end up having air in the hoses. What's the correct air bleeding procedure? cheers! :)

We had a FAQ section and there used to be a couple of stickied threads around for some stuff but things have changed over the years, including the software that runs the forum, so I guess we should probably start looking at some stickied informative threads for those more commonly asked questions (and I don't mean "should I wear socks with crocs to church" or "is it too late in the morning to have a beer" or "what colour undies are best if I'm visiting Prince Andrew?" ).

As for the coolant, I found the best way to get all the air out was to park nose-up on a steep slope, let the engine cool, then fill the radiator as much as possible, giving the hose (near the alternator) a few good squeezes to encourage air to depart. Then, having put the cap on, ensure that the reservoir has some fluid in it and start the car briefly and repeat. I've had no dramas since.
