Actually all the V6 diesel models were assembled in Spain.

Two things to think about...

If you remove the dpf and/or cat your vehicle will fail the ITV. The examiners will also fail a non standard exhaust system.

If you get caught on a roadside check having modified the emissions systems there will be a very large fine to pay.

Note in some Australian states there are no requirements for a roadworthiness check, so removal of the dpf/cat is less of an issue. This is why they are available there. There is still a $10k fine for being caught though!

You would be better removing the internals of your DPF so it still looks like there is a DPF fitted if you concerned with getting a roadside spot check. Where are you located? I'm in the UK and I may or may not have a high flow DPF fitted. Passes MOTs with no issues. Also have a stainless steel DPF back exhaust, again no issues in the UK with that. I do still have a cat fitted though. I know the DPFs on the V9X are right on the design limit and have seen several issues with them choking up. One of my old DPFs chocked solid, because of a leaky intercooler. Also chocked the EGR valve in the process.

^ Here in Australia they are now measuring emissions during certain roadside checks and comparing them against the expected output for a vehicle of the same make and age.

The trick is to not draw attention to yourself.

Not so good! I didn't think the Nav's had DPFs over your way?

I have a 2012 stx V6 & the DPF is not monitored by the ECU, get underneath and have a look there are no connections to it, it’s only an oversized cat so get rid of it.

Unfortunately mine has the tube that goes up into the engine bay to a sensor. Either need to get it mapped out or one of those adaptors that fools the ECU. Not sure if they work though

Don't forget that Spain is on a different level.
Nothing is allowed on your vehicle unless fitted or available as an original option by the manufacturer. Absolutely nothing. Zero tolerance on their ITV and roadside checks.

From what o understand, the DPF on V9X engines is a non regenerative DPF so does bugger all. Not really required. As long as you keep the cat converter.

It depends on where you are. Whilst all the V9x models rolled off the same production line in Spain (now shut down), the European market received a full dpf with a seventh injector etc.
In markets where Euro 5 emissions were not required a more basic type as you describe was fitted.
