It's probably your alternator if the battery light comes on. Based on the symptoms you describe the first place I'd look is the over run pulley as they do wear out.

Change the alternator pully I had this same condition and eventually the pully broke off. Needed a new alternator as it destroyed the connection to the alternator.

Hi, I will add my 2 bobs worth here. My rig is 2010 Thai d40 auto with 130k, and recently it siezed the altrnator up tight as a drum ,doing 2500 rpm at the time and stalled the engine. Took the Alt. apart and found the small double row bearing at the brush end had dismantled itself, and made quite a mess. Replaced the Alt, with a newie from S.A. $185 .The Alt Pully was as good as new.

Wow where did you get a new alt for $185 ? I paid about $500

Hi, I brought the Alernator from S.A,,via ebay search, Supplier is " naparts 50064 " Postage free. Been on my ute over a month now and no problems. HOWEVER, the first one he sent over , had a tight spot when turning by hand, so I asked for a replacement. No problem, 2nd unit was sent priorty.By the way, the output of the alternator is better looked at by its CURRENT output, since all 12 volt alternators must put out at least 12 volts
