Hey, I recently bought a used 2008 D22 Space Cab and I’m looking to get a lift plus a new set of rims and tires for occasional road driving in the week and off roading every weekend.

The truck currently has 20” rims and road tires installed by the previous owner. Here's what I'm thinking:
A complete suspension 3” X-Flex Lift Kit from Snake Racing (Navara D22 3" X-Flex Lift Kit)
15” rims
The biggest mud tires I can fit on it without rubbing (32s or 33s if possible)
Enough offset for the tires to stick out a little

This is my first truck so I’d really like some recommendations, such as rim size/tire size combos for what I'm looking for. Also, will I need a diff drop?

Thanks!

Not sure where you're at, but a 3" suspension lift would be a no-no in many places (certainly in NSW). You'll probably need new UCA's to get that much lift also, which would need approval. A diff drop would be useful to reduce cv angle. 33' tyres are generally outside of the same regs and tyres sticking out past the flares will be like driving around with a sign saying "please defect this car". As well as the car struggling to get the tyres moving/ a reduction in power and fuel consumption (unless you're travelling regularly across the Nullarbor lol). It's a lot of rigmarole to go through.

The standard 2" lift is allowable (to NSW regs at least) and 32" tyres on the standard 16'" rims usually go straight on without any lift and are within spec (agree you'd need to get rid of those 20" wheels for off roading). You're unlikely to be getting stopped and defected with such modifications either. If you put an auto lockka in the front diff it will surprise you and this would be more beneficial/practical than a huge lift for most off road stuff. Unless you're going to be doing some really rough stuff regularly. Then you've got to wonder if you have the right car to begin with.

Lost count of how many people I encounter with huge lifts, big tyres and noisy exhausts struggling, losing traction and spinning wheels/bouncing around trying to get up steep undulating tracks when a locker for a fraction of the cost would have allowed them to crawl up easily.

Up to yourself though, some people just want the look of big lift/big tyres which is fair enough.

ps. Notice that kit doesn't seem to have rear springs, but extended shackles? That's as rough as guts (IMO) and I wouldn't do it that way. I doubt that would be considered roadworthy anywhere in Aus for good reason (not sure where you're at though). You could get a really good solid 2" lift that will be within the regs by picking your own components for 1/3-1/2 of that price.

I don't think the OP lives in Australia, so none of the stuff you have to worry about here. That snake racing kit comes with upgraded UCA's, dont need to worry about that. If you get flares you can run 33's on (i think) up to neg 22 rims. Im planning on putting 33's on some time, seen other people run them with no probs, maybe a bit more fuel consumption. On the plus side i guess they knock your revs down on the h'way. Again its just personal preference, i like the look of a lifted aggressive 4by( maybe cause im younger than Horatius haha). Ive got 2 inch sus plus 2 inch body lift on my car, yet to be engineered(maybe one day).

Yep, old fella here for sure. That obvious is it? lol.

2in suspension (springs not shackles), 2 inch bodylift, 285 75 16s (33") 0 offset rims, works well with minor trimming of guards, any bigger and your really pushing things. sure u can go 35s if you want or more negative offset rims but be prepared for more guard chopping and standing out to police, diff ratio changes or poor performance not to mention breaking steering and drive line components.

or much more simply just go 2" suspension lift and 265 75 16's on +20 offset rims.
there wont be much difference in performance or looks. add a front auto lokka if you want more traction. and if you still want more lift 2" body lift.

I know you guys got many regs on lift and tires. In USA and Mexico we have few regs on that . My 14. D22 has 3in body lift 2in sup lift up grade 16in rims 285 tires. I do serious off road for 33s to clear . I had to cut front bumper bottom edge. Change frt mud guard to flat one also mod fit lower firewall . Being a retired body guy easy plus difficult to tell . What I did just like they said here I noticed drop in power. I bought a fuel rail tuner with many positions for more power. I think it has 20 marks to turn up power. It's only turned up to 7 marks as has way more power. Then with stock small tires also cat and muffler delete. On and off road handling great
