Hey guys my gearbox today has been slightly stiff to change gears and then tonight it really struggled. I had it in neutral. Went to change into 1st gear and won't let me. The clutch is literally on the floor. I can pull it up almost half way then it drops back down again.

What could this be? Is the clutch gone? My car is 2010 with 260,000kms.

Have you done any towing with it? It is entirely possible that the clutch is gone. What if you turn off the engine, put the car in first, foot on the clutch and try to start it - what happens? Make sure nothing's in front of your car first, it might jump forward a fair bit if the clutch won't disengage!

No towing at all. I'm a plumber so I drive to and from site daily. I checked out the car this morning. The clutch is still on the floor and I'm able to change the gears when last night the gearbox wouldn't move. Could it be a rod issue? Fluids? I don't know much about cars. I'm trying to research . I'll tow the car to my mechanic tomorrow.

Sounds a bit similar to a problem I had with my 2012 D40 4wd manual after the dealer replaced the gearbox oil with the recommended oil. Very difficult to change into and from first on startup when cold but IK after the engine warmed up. Dealer replaced clutch for $3000 - didn’t fix the problem. Replaced gearbox oil with thinner oil - 75W80 instead of recommended 80W90. That was 4 years ago. Its been fine ever since

Although clutch pedal was never on the floor without my foot on it.

Had this once in a car where the cluctch master cylinder was out of oil... Fill up with brake fluid, and pump the clutch a few times.

Mine did this not too long ago. Ended up being the pedal box cracked and then cracked the firewall. As mentioned above. Very common and easy fix if your handy or friend is handy with a welder. Watch the clutch master cylinder behind the brake booster while someone presses the pedal.
