    Outback Trip - Prep, advice

My kit consists of spare belts. Tools to change them and not much more. Epoxy repair. Amalgamating repair tape, Fencing wire. cable ties. Roll of electrical wire. Couple of spare wheels complete. Say 5 litres of oil. If you get a leak you can't fix just keep pouring it in to get to help. If...

    Problem Solved

Thanks mate, good info. I like it when people share this type of info. Really contributes to the forum. From a fairly young age (the ute, not me:-) I put some really big ass cable ties around the cold side hose every 5 or 10mm. 9 years latter hose is still good. Cable ties are probably...

    Wooshing noise when accelerating

I'd be looking at some kind of Charge Air (boost) leak. You don't need much of leak for a decent sort of noise on throttle progression while still maintaining reasonable performance. Your got remember it's a fair volume of air at up to 20 PSI. Get someone to rev it hard and suddenly while you...

Aftermarket Secondary Fuel Filter For A 2010 Thai Built D40 Automatic

Understand your concern there Karl. Only time I have ever been caught out with dud fuel was Carnarvon W.A. many years ago. Had a gut load of water. Maybe consider a water seperator pre fuel filter. Less restriction to. Reasoning behind my previous post as I know a guy who has an identical Nav...

    D40 3inch exhaust HELP

You'll most likely find that big bore exhaust alone will not give much of a performance boost, if at all . Such is the nature of Variable Vane turbos. If you do go big bore certainly go the proper job ressinator. Forget cheap hot dogs the flutes are actually restrictive. Nothing could be worse...

Aftermarket Secondary Fuel Filter For A 2010 Thai Built D40 Automatic

Just change your regular filter with one of good quality one twice as often. It will give you less grief. There're weak on suction side as is.

    D40 blow by,

opps, didn't answer your question. Never been a fan of additives in the sump. Unless the engine is really on it's way out. As for viscosity 10w~40 should be enough. In summer maybe 15~40. Keep in mind the low number is important for cold starts. Thinner it is the faster it flows and cold starts...

    D40 blow by,

welcome Frosty. Your truck looks great. In really good nick for it's age and K's. That canopy is looks so neat. What brand is it?

    Clutch plate

Never heard of that one. Not in this country anyway but being a single mass 275mm flywheel it sounds like a Thai built truck. You'll have to do a bit research yourself but maybe see if you can source one out of Asia or Australia. Heavy lump though, freight will be expensive.

    STX 550 Diff

You may be able use another D40 diff if you swap over the ring and pinion gear. However it is not that easy with diffs as it's probably the ring and pinion that is shot. It's not as easy as even buying a new or good second hand centre even with the right ratio ring gear. You can get lucky but...

Just Bought a D40 - What Maintenance to you Suggest?

Again as above. Looks like your done some homework, your list is good. Be a little careful adding a secondary filter. It can create issues. The pump on these things are weak on the suction side. I have heard of cases and know first hand of one case where a supplementary fuel pump has been...

Hello all from Scotland , help needed plz

Sounds like they are taking you for a ride. Corrosion- In your country that is likely the as you will know better than me. Roads can be salted. Mostly it is usually surface on the chassis and is an easy fix. If you can use your garden hose after driving on a salted road it will help. Gotta be...

    Radio problems

Odds on the're shot. It's quite a common problem in Navaras and Patrols to. Mine gave up. The rears are still ok. In the front doors they are oval, 9" x 6". It's pretty easy to remove the door panels and youtube is your friend here. Quite a few vids on how to do so.
