I did a respray on a few panels, matched code etc. etc., absolutely nothing like it and sticks out like dog's balls. I don't really mind, I was just covering up where painted had flecked to stop rust, but I don't think it's unusual for the colour to be out by a mile.

That was my concern, could be running too thick an oil I guess. Definitely not overdue for a change, I do them regularly. I'll be doing one next weekend though before I drive back up to Sydney.

Greetings Brains trust, Got an 07 D40. Was having a look at fluids today and there's some thick black sludge under the oil cap and underside of rocker cover. No whites in it and the coolant level is stable. I've got a catch can on it which has a bit of gunk in it, I've moved to a cold climate...

Just had a look in the manual, never references a 'set' light, only the 'cruise' light. Could have saved myself some trouble if I just read the manual eh.

It's VSK, it wasn't working when I bought it. Never had a car without the set light I just kinda assumed it was in all cars!

Forgot to update this thread, turns out the O-ring for the water sensor on the fuel filter was split, draining the fuel out overnight and drying by morning. I still think the SCV was dodgy, because changing it improved all the other symptoms, but the O-ring was definitely causing the rough idle...

Yeah good point, I'll just use it for a diagnosis and go from there. Do we know if the the NPS is used for anything else or just for cruise control?
