    YD25 rocker cover leaks...

Out of curiosity, have you got a catch can, a blocked catch can, can leads to leaks like this...

    Cooling fan clutch

When the fan is full of viscous oil, it stops abruptly with the motor stopping. No arguments, the oil is cheap, and it's a straight forward job. A top up of viscous oil, and the ute runs cooler, you'll notice how loud the fan appears to sound, as it's doing it's job properly. This isn't theory...

    Cooling fan clutch

Fan clutch is an easy diagnosis, if it stops when you turn off engine, it's ok, if it still spins after shutting engine off, it needs viscous oil top up...

    Cooling fan clutch

the test on the fan clutch is to see if it still spins for a bit when you turn the ute off, if it still does, the viscous oil is depleted. You can buy some from a Toyota dealer (it's the same viscous oil), no one else seems to sell it. take apart the fan clutch and re-fill with new oil. It comes...

    Instrument cluster. 1998-99 mod

I had an old one once, TD27 Jap import, and the tacho was glitchy, ended up being the very point of the needle had slumped towards the gauge, and was dragging. Presumably by the heat of the sun. Took the thing apart, trimmed off the very end, and it went back to working smoothly...

    d40 dpf light on limp?

I left an ODB2 transmitter plugged into mine, and the parasitic draw it did over a few days, fully wigged the system out. Lots of white smoke for the first time in it's life, wouldn't rev past 2500 etc. A simple removal of the OBD2, and she went fine again. Thing was, the dash lost correct time...

    Wet passenger floor

He's referring to the tray area, or the plenum chamber (sometimes called). If you remove the grille underneath the wiper blades, you'll see the air intake port, and the suspect area behind it. Heavy rain tends to flood over the air port, especially if leaves or debris have blocked the drain hole...

    Coolant pipe pressure

Sounds like Lex Smith is all over it, just adding that my D40, seems to only really provide decent heat to the heater core when under load, it's always been like this..

    Clunck when changing gears

Lots of genie piss, let them soak, use a big hammer, have blocks of wood handy, and a heavy vice. The circlips can be a pain, but it's all low tech... my economy improved after changing my front uni, which was squeaking, funny enough, it would only squeak in reverse.

I was wondering if the beast's belly would reveal it's secrets, good old fuses... don't know anything about clock springs, touch wood, mine's never had a problem...

    Smokin AC

Mine would sound like there were dry leaves caught in it, actually bearing having a hard time, try parking other way, if possible. I've had my ute for over 8 years, about 4 fan resistors in that time. Parking it tilted to the right helps heaps. Don't hear water swishing around as often after big...

    Smokin AC

I bought a cheap blower off eBay, came with a fan resistor card too, I think about $130 delivered. It's actually a better design, which doesn't allow water to drip through the motor. It's been working fine so far. My d40 likes to be parked without the front left being the lowest point. When it...
