I have sorted the problem. I wired them to normal colour coding i.e. brown=active, blue=neutral/earth. On these lights the blue wire goes directly to the bulb & the brown to the bulb holder. According to my Auto lecky brother (probably should have spoken to him first) it should be the other way...
